Kate Brough is a London-based product designer that specializes in bespoke lamps. Kate wanted a unique website built to her specifications. There's plenty of furniture & staging websites out there, so it was important for Kate website to stand out not only aesthetically but in ease of use.
Kate had a distinct vision as to what she wanted and needed her website to accomplish, both logistically and aesthetically. I needed to produce something that would showcase her unique lamp style that is based on 2 very unique materials - Slate & Sandstone These genuine textures are custom made to a thin fabric-like material that covers the outer parts of the shape giving it a distinct look and feel. We needed to translate the emotions and the feel of these materials onto her online gallery so she can use it for her external clientele.
Webflow was the obvious choice for the Content Management System. It allows Kate to be able to add and remove lamp designs, update the gallery section, even update the slider on the home page with her latest pieces. All delivered with lightning fast web hosting and a responsive frame work.
The site was built using HTML5 standards and SCHEMA was introduced as a local business. All HTML, CSS and JS are minified, with responsive image compression on inline images, all of this is delivered by the lightning fast Amazon S3 Content Delivery Network.
The layout needed to be somewhat standard, with the exceptions of Kate's signature colours. At its heart this site is a large catalogue, so it needed to feel familiar without being mundane and ordinary.
